Primary Teaching Assistant
Location: Wigan
Start: September 2026
Daily rate: £92.59 – £110, depending on experience.

CER Education is looking for Teaching Assistants to support primary schools across Wigan and the surrounding area starting from September 2026.

This opportunity would suit someone who enjoys supporting children with their learning and wants to play an active role in helping pupils feel confident in the classroom. Whether you have previous school-based experience or are looking to move into education, CER can offer flexible day-to-day supply work as well as longer-term placements to fit around your availability and career goals.

Role responsibilities:

• Supporting the class teacher with day-to-day classroom activities, pupil routines, transitions and supervision where needed.
• Working with individual pupils and small groups to encourage participation, focus and progress during lessons.
• Helping to set up learning materials, organise classroom resources and contribute to a positive, inclusive learning space.
• Providing additional support for children with SEND or other learning needs, helping them to build confidence, independence and engagement.

Preferred skills (not essential):

• Experience working with children or young people, either in a school, childcare, care, coaching or support setting, would be advantageous.
• A relevant childcare, education or supporting teaching and learning qualification would be useful but is not required.
• An enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to complete a new DBS application through CER.
