CER Education Recruitment is currently recruiting for a reliable and proactive School Caretaker to work within a friendly primary school in the S35 area of Sheffield.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced caretaker, site supervisor, facilities assistant, or maintenance professional looking to play a vital role in ensuring a safe, secure, and well-maintained learning environment for pupils and staff.

The Role

As School Caretaker, you will be responsible for the day-to-day upkeep and security of the school premises, helping to provide a safe and welcoming environment for the whole school community.

Key responsibilities include:

• Opening and securing the school site each day
• Carrying out general maintenance and minor repair work
• Conducting regular health and safety checks
• Ensuring the school grounds are clean, tidy, and well-maintained
• Monitoring site security and reporting any issues
• Liaising with contractors and external service providers
• Supporting with room setups for school events and activities
• Managing deliveries and site-related documentation
• Undertaking basic decorating, plumbing, or maintenance tasks where appropriate

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience in a caretaking, site supervisor, facilities, maintenance, or estates role
• Good DIY and practical maintenance skills
• Knowledge of basic health and safety procedures
• A hardworking and proactive approach
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
• The ability to work independently and manage a varied workload
• Excellent communication skills and a friendly manner
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
