The Role

As a Secondary School Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting teaching and learning across the school.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting students in the classroom to access learning and achieve their potential
  • Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons
  • Providing one-to-one and small group support where required
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and student engagement
  • Supporting pupils with additional learning needs, including SEND requirements
  • Helping to create a positive, inclusive and well-managed learning environment
  • Building positive relationships with students, staff and parents
  • Supporting the safeguarding and welfare of all pupils

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification or relevant experience working with young people
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A positive, flexible and proactive approach
  • A passion for supporting student development and educational achievement
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
