Year 5 Teacher – Maternity Cover
Location: Sefton/Bootle area, L20
Contract: Temporary maternity cover
Start date: September 2026
Pay: £140 – £261 per day (dependent on experience)
About the role:
CER Education is currently recruiting an experienced Teacher to join a primary school in the Sefton/Bootle area on a maternity cover basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident Key Stage 2 educator who can deliver engaging lessons, support pupils’ progress, and contribute positively to the wider school community. The successful teacher will take responsibility for a Year 5 class, creating a positive and inclusive learning environment where pupils feel motivated, supported, and challenged to achieve their best.
Job Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons in line with the Year 5 curriculum.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports all learners and encourages development
- Assess, monitor and record pupil progress, using this information to improve future planning.
- Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of pupils, including those requiring additional support or challenge.
- Maintain strong classroom management and promote positive behavior in line with school policies.
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, colleagues, senior leaders and parents/carers.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school, including meetings, planning and school events where required.

Job Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualifications.
- Experience teaching in a primary school, ideally within Key Stage 2
- Strong knowledge of the Year 5 curriculum, particularly English and Math’s.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Enhanced DBS on the Live update Service, or willing to apply for one.
- Right to work in the UK and professional references.
