Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Liverpool

CER Education are expanding our team of dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistants (SEN TAs) to support a range of partnership schools across the Liverpool area. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact supporting pupils with a variety of additional needs including PMLD, MLD, ASD, SEMH, and complex learning difficulties.

About the Role

As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils across the curriculum. You’ll work closely with teachers and school SEN teams to deliver personalised, purposeful learning that helps every child progress. You’ll gain valuable experience in a variety of settings and develop a strong skillset working with SEND pupils.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support classroom learning and adapt activities in line with pupils’ EHCPs
  • Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with diverse special educational needs
  • Confidently adapt to different school environments
  • Use a range of communication methods and strategies to enhance engagement
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning atmosphere
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff to share best practice

What We’re Looking For

Ideally, you will have:

  • A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or 3 desirable)
  • Experience supporting students with special educational needs
  • Previous experience in a UK school (references required)
  • Strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to build rapport
  • A genuine commitment to helping pupils achieve their full potential

Early Career Teaching Assistants are strongly encouraged to apply – full induction and ongoing support will be provided.
