As a Secondary Supply Teacher, you will be the backbone of the school’s daily operations, ensuring that student learning remains consistent even when their regular teacher is absent. You won’t just be “minding a class”; you’ll be expected to deliver pre-set work with enthusiasm, maintain a purposeful learning environment, and uphold the school’s high standards of behaviour.
Curriculum Delivery: Effectively deliver lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (and occasionally KS5) according to the school’s curriculum and provided cover work.
Behaviour Management: Implement the school’s behaviour policy firmly and fairly to ensure a safe and productive atmosphere.
Adaptability: Transition seamlessly between different subjects and year groups throughout the school day.
Assessment & Feedback: Mark any work completed during the lesson where required and provide concise handover notes for the returning staff member.
Safeguarding: Maintain a constant vigilance regarding student welfare, following all safeguarding and “Keeping Children Safe in Education” (KCSiE) protocols.
