Education and Training

Operational Management

  • In line with Post 16 Education aims and in consultation with education providers, design and manage (deliver if appropriate) programmes, taster sessions and curriculum-based activities that maximises outcomes for Post 16 learners with a diverse range of learning needs.
  • To work with the Programme Manager to develop and manage training opportunities or employment outcomes with further education providers, peer organisations and community partners.
  • Manage and deliver projects through to completion using programme plans, produce termly reports on progress and milestones.
  • To line manage key members of staff including preparing induction, staff development, workload schedules and performance management.
  • To develop the employer engagement, offer to support training and programmes with local and regional employers.
  • To support the development of training/internship programmes by chairing or being a member of a task group.
  • To ensure that all programmes and training opportunities are delivered safely and in line with Council’s Service’s policies and in accordance with funding and contract agreements.
  • Through regular monitoring ensure that Programmes are delivered to the highest standard possible.
  • To manage and maintain accurate programmes budgets as allocated to be (£8,000 max)
  • To support the maximizing income generation by securing additional funding where possible

Partnership Development

  • Membership of a local forum or subgroup to inform best practice in consultation with peer organisations and education providers.
  • To work with the wider team and training providers to respond to local and national agendas in line with central and local government priorities.
  • To use IYSS as a primary resource for tracking and monitoring the work of training providers.
  • To gather learning outcomes, anecdotal feedback, case studies and quantitative data from young people and to report against projects aims and outcomes.
  • To market and raise awareness of the range of Post 16 programmes through effective communication and engagement strategies to include attending meetings and producing bulletins.
  • To keep abreast of new developments about Post 16 qualifications including vocational related qualifications.
  • To support the Head of Post 16 in securing additional funding and contributing to funding applications, bids, and reports.

General duties

  • Working closely with colleagues within Post 16 and within Education Department, ensure compliance with all relevant legislative requirements including health and safety, and safeguarding.
  • As a member of the Post 16 team to play an active role in Post 16 wide activities including meeting, conference, and annual events.
  • To promote and comply with current legislation and Council’s Service’s policies on Equality, Diversity and Health and Safety both in service delivery and communication with colleagues and other professionals.
  • To undertake any reasonable duties, training, or personal development to meet the needs of the service.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential

  • Degree qualification or evidence of continuing professional development and study in this area
  • Project Management qualification or evidence of professional development or training
  • GCSE, O ‘levels or Functional skills Level 2 in math’s or English

  • Excellent knowledge of Post 16 Education and training
  • Experience of partnership working with schools/ other education providers and the context in which they work in.
  • A proven track of designing and delivery of high-quality programmes.
  • Experience of working with young people and implementing safeguarding measures across Operationss of work for onsite and off-site activity.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to engage, inspire and motivate participation of the target group.
  • Proven skills in budget setting and financial reporting
  • Understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities an inclusive practice

Desirable

  • Proven track record in bid and report writing.
  • Experience of local government procurement/contract processes
