Behaviour Support Worker
Location: Secondary School, Rotherham
Position: Full-Time, Long-Term (via Agency)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

About the Role: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Worker to join a dynamic secondary school alternate provision in Rotherham on a full-time, long-term basis. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting disengaged students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to access education in a positive and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide tailored support to students with SEMH needs, promoting positive behaviour and engagement.
Work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to implement individual support plans.
Build positive relationships with students, acting as a role model and mentor.
Assist in de-escalation strategies and manage challenging behaviour effectively.
Support students both in and outside the classroom, adapting strategies to meet individual needs.
Promote a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Essential Requirements:
Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, preferably in a secondary school setting.
Strong behaviour management skills with a positive and proactive approach.
Ability to build rapport with disengaged students and encourage positive outcomes.
Understanding of safeguarding procedures and child protection.
Resilience, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting young people.
Desirable:
Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Youth Work, Psychology).
Team Teach or other de-escalation training (or willingness to complete training).
