SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

CER Education is looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision in Leeds, supporting students with a range of needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder, learning difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges. This role offers the opportunity to work in a supportive environment where your contribution can have a significant impact on each student’s development and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

– Provide personalised support to students with ASD, LD, and SEMH, helping them engage with their learning

– Assist with the planning and delivery of lessons, adapting activities to meet individual needs

– Support students both in the classroom and in specialist interventions, ensuring they feel included and valued

– Work closely with teaching staff to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and monitor progress

– Foster a safe and nurturing environment that promotes emotional and social development

– Help manage challenging behaviour in line with school policies, using appropriate de-escalation techniques

Requirements:

– Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly ASD, LD, or SEMH

– Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills to build meaningful relationships with students

– Ability to work well as part of a team, supporting teachers and contributing to a positive school environment

– Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
