Teaching Assistant – Isolation Room Support
Location: Rotherham Secondary School

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support students working within the isolation room at a thriving secondary school in Rotherham.

About the Role:
As a Teaching Assistant working in their isolation room, you will play a pivotal role in supporting students who require additional help to manage their behaviour and maintain focus on their learning. This position is perfect for someone with a calm and understanding approach, who can provide both mentoring and academic support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervising and supporting students within the isolation room environment.
  • Providing mentoring to help students reflect on their behaviour and develop positive strategies.
  • Assisting students with their learning to ensure they remain on track academically.
  • Preparing students for a successful return to lessons, building their confidence and engagement.
  • Liaising with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and parents to provide feedback on student progress.

About You:
We are looking for someone with:

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally in a school, support work, or mentoring capacity.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with students.
  • A positive, empathetic, and patient approach to supporting young people.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students.

Desirable Qualifications:
While not essential, the following would be advantageous:

  • Relevant qualifications in education, child development, or mentoring.
  • Experience in behaviour management or restorative practices.
