Exam Invigilators (Ad Hoc / Supply)

Pay: £13.68 – £16.29 per hour
We are currently seeking reliable and professional Exam Invigilators to work on a supply basis across secondary schools in Barnsley. This is a flexible, term-time opportunity ideal for individuals looking to support students during key assessment periods throughout the academic year.
About the Role:
As an Exam Invigilator, you will play a vital role in the smooth and fair running of public examinations, including GCSEs and mock exams. You will ensure that students are able to sit their exams in a calm, supportive, and strictly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the preparation of the examination room
Distribute and collect examination papers and materials
Supervise candidates throughout the exam duration
Deal with queries and incidents according to exam procedures
Maintain the integrity and security of the examination process
Person Specification:
Excellent punctuality and attention to detail
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to remain calm under pressure and follow clear procedures
Flexible and dependable, with a professional attitude
Previous invigilation experience is advantageous but not essential – full training will be provided
An enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Working Hours:
This is an ad hoc position during exam seasons – primarily in May/June, with additional opportunities in October/November and throughout the academic year for mock exams and resits. Morning and afternoon sessions are available.
