SEN Teaching Assistant

Hours: Full time Monday to Friday (8.30am – 15.30pm)
Location: Barnsley, South Yorkshire
Start Date: ASAP

Job Description:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic educational team in Barnsley. The successful candidate will work closely with a student, providing tailored support to meet their individual needs, ensuring an inclusive and positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support for a student with additional needs, promoting engagement and progress within the classroom. Assist with personal care, including manual handling as required.
  • Support the development of social, emotional, and academic skills.
  • Implement strategies outlined in Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to help meet the student’s specific needs.
  • Administer medication and ensure the student’s health and wellbeing are supported in line with school policies.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe, nurturing, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Foster independence and self-esteem through positive reinforcement.

Essential Experience and Qualifications:

  • PEG Training
  • Manual Handling training
  • Medication Training
  • First Aid certification
  • Previous experience working with children with additional needs in a similar role is preferred.

  • Contract Type: Full-time
  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday, term-time
