About the Role: We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Food Technology Technician to join one of our client’s dynamic secondary schools in Rotherham. This long-term, full-time position is perfect for someone passionate about food technology and education, with a desire to support students in developing their culinary skills. You will play a vital role in the smooth running of the Food Technology department, providing technical support to teachers and students alike.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and set up equipment, materials, and ingredients for practical food technology lessons.
• Assist teachers and students during lessons, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment.
• Maintain and manage the inventory of food supplies, equipment, and resources.
• Ensure all equipment and workspaces are cleaned and maintained to a high standard, following health and safety regulations.
• Support the teacher in demonstrating techniques and the use of equipment during practical sessions.
• Help manage and organize the department’s resources, including sourcing ingredients and equipment for lessons.
• Assist in the preparation of displays and resources for the department.
• Contribute to the planning and delivery of extracurricular activities, such as cooking clubs or events.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Previous experience working in a food technology environment or similar setting is highly desirable.
• A strong understanding of food hygiene and safety standards.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with students and staff.
• A relevant qualification in food technology, catering, or a related field is advantageous but not essential.
