Join Our Team as a Full-Time SEN Teaching Assistant!

Are you a compassionate and dedicated individual with a passion for supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? We are currently seeking a qualified SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at an SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) provision in Rotherham, working with secondary age children. This is a full-time, long-term position ideal for someone with at least a Level 2 qualification, preferably Level 3, in SEN support.

Role Responsibilities of a SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Support students with SEN in accessing the curriculum and engaging in learning activities.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs).
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, promoting their social and emotional development.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with parents and external agencies as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Ideally, possess a Level 3 qualification in SEN support or related field.
  • Previous experience working with secondary age students with SEMH needs is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with students and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting the holistic development of students with SEN.
