Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with Autism and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) in Rotherham S60. This is a full-time, temporary position with the potential to become a permanent role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide tailored 1:1 support to a child with Autism and PDA, ensuring their individual needs are met.
• Implement and adapt educational activities to support the child’s learning and development.
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
• Monitor and record the child’s progress, providing regular feedback to the teaching staff and parents.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

• Experience working with children with Autism and PDA.
• Strong understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy, and the ability to build trusting relationships with children.
• Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the child’s unique needs.
• Relevant qualifications in education or special educational needs (SEN) are desirable.

Ideal Background:

• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
• Background in special education, psychology, or a related field.
• Knowledge of strategies and interventions for supporting children with Autism and PDA.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.
